Neutral Interiors and Master Bathroom Paint Color

As much as I adore homes with rooms that are uniquely painted (I have a friend whose house has more rooms that ARE painted in bold striped and plaid patterns than not) I simply can't do it in my own house. I love looking at photos of rooms painted yellow, blue, red...etc. But I think because I have such decorating ADD, I have to stick with neutrals in my own home as far as wall color goes. I like to do that so I can switch out accessories in different colors when I feel like a change, rather than re-doing a whole entire room. My favorite look lately has been rooms that feature lots of whites and creams with warm wood tones for flooring and furniture. (The most recent issue of Country Living is FULL of amazing images to illustrate my point in case you were wondering.) Here are some other examples I found...

I would love to have any one of these rooms!

On another note, I did mention before that we painted our Master Bedroom a dark color and even though NOTHING else is done in there AND  it is an extremely hard room to photograph (lots of weird walls and angles) I just wanted to share with you a peek at the color I chose. It is Benjamin Moore paint and the color is Alexandria Beige.

Hopefully we will get around to fixing up the bathroom one day, but for now at least we have paint on the walls!

  1. Hi Jacqueline! I found your blog when I read your comment at Dear Lillie about textures. I love photography and thought about a tutorial I had seen when I saw your question. It is a step by step how to add texture to your picture. You are basically layering the texture over the picture, lowering the opacity so you can see through it and erasing it off areas you don't want it. Lola's picture is beautiful and it is pretty easy to do! I am going to play around with textures in the next few weeks with some shoots I am doing. I just wanted to share and say good luck! You can find it here

  2. The fourth photo looks so cosy - I agree about the neutral colours - changing the accessories so easily creates a completely different room.
